Story
Over the years, I have often wondered what it would have been like to be an explorer, discovering new cultures and hidden ruins. I come from a family of explorers. My ancestor had the first baby at the North Pole on an expedition with her husband, Robert Perry. While I obviously haven't done this type of exploration, I have had the opportunity to spend time with many other cultures. In Dec. 2022, I visited the tribal lands of NE India. One of the villages I had the chance to spend time in was Kigwema, the oldest village in Nagaland, home of the Angami. The owner of the homestay we were in introduced me to her relative, who is pictured here. She was in the process of making rice that they harvest. The lighting in the small room of her simple home was just beautiful, and it highlighted her face and hands perfectly.
