Story
With 17,900.77 ha, the Ria Formosa natural park in Algarve region has diverse habitats - dunes, marshes, ditches, pine forest areas and agricultural areas - being an important area in terms of birds, with the lagoon area also serving as a nursery for some marine species. Many species of migratory waterbirds from northern Europe spend the winter here or use the estuary as a stopover heading south.
