Story
Belgrade, Serbia
Thousands LGBTI+ activists and allies from all corners of the world gathered in Belgrade in September 2022 to celebrate EuroPride. The event was held outside of the EEA for the first time in history, marking a major milestone for Belgrade Pride and the LGBTI+ in the region.
It was a week full of emotion and intensity that didn’t go on without its difficulty, including the initial ban of the march by the government.
The ban was finally overturned as a new route was submitted and action was taken by the Serbian government to ensure the safety of all those partaking in the march.
The rain, heavy police presence nor the opposing side stopped anyone from taking to the street and evoking their rights.
