Elizabeth or Erzsebet Bathory of Echeda (veng. ecsedi Báthory Erzsébet (-Nádasdy)) or Alzbeta Batorova-Nadashdi (Slovak. Alžbeta Bátoriová-Nádasdy; August 7, 1560, Nyirbator, Kingdom of Hungary — August 21, 1614, Chakhtitse Castle, Kingdom of Hungary, now Slovakia), also called Chakhtitsky Pani or the Bloody Countess was a Hungarian countess from the famous Bathory family, the richest aristocrat of Hungary of her time, known for serial murders of young girls.
Bathory is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the woman who committed the largest number of murders, although the exact number of her victims is unknown.
